Kamadeva is a Hindu deity of love, desire and passion. He is often depicted as a handsome young man wielding a bow and arrow. Kamadeva is also called Manmatha or Manmohan which means "one who attracts the heart." He is primarily associated with the god of fertility, Lord Shiva, and his consort, Parvati. Kamadeva is believed to have the power to manipulate the emotions of people and can bring them closer to each other. His worship is particularly popular during the spring festival of Holi. According to Hindu mythology, Kamadeva was destroyed by Lord Shiva when he tried to disturb his meditation. However, he was later restored to life by his consort, Parvati, and given the boon of being worshipped as a god.
